Jesus Will Return One Day

Another winter storm system came and went in my state Nebraska. While some parts of the state did receive large amounts of snow, in my city it was once again much ado about nothing. When the TV weather people talk about how much we could get before the snow storm comes, I find it amusing. It is part of life in my city that the big one misses my city. At least I got a day off with pay due to all schools canceling for the day.

The same is true in the spring and summer when it comes to thunderstorms and tornadoes. Yes, we get thunderstorms here, but the tornadoes always seem to skip my city. I have even seen people sitting out on their covered porches watching the storms not heeding the severe weather warnings. People do not heed the warnings because so many times it has been like the little boy who cried wolf.

It brings to mind what Noah experienced while he was building the ark God told him to build. People mocked him saying it had never rained or flooded. The people would not heed the warning.

Jesus used what happened in the days of Noah to explain what will happen in the days before the 2nd Coming of Jesus in Matthew 24:36-39:

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.  As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.  For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;  and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man”

Jesus will return to earth and everything will change. Nothing can stop his 2nd Coming. When he returns, those who longed for his return will be filled with joy, but those who mocked, disregarded, refused to believe, will be shocked and tragically it will be too late.

Jesus will return. We can prepare by coming to faith in Jesus as our Savior. He did all of the work when he willingly died on the cross for us. Jesus loves us and wants us to be with him for eternity.

Grateful She Did Not Have Her Baby During Class

Yesterday afternoon the 21 year old daughter of the married couple from Ukraine came with them to my class at the high school. They had just come from the doctor’s office for her check up before she gives birth. She is due any day now. The doctor told her that she is close. When she told me that, I thought-“I hope this doesn’t happen during my class.”

I am happy that the baby did not come during my class. I am also happy for the family that they can have something wonderful happen after having to flee the war in Ukraine, for her and her husband. the birth of their first child and for her parents, the birth of their first grandchild.

My only plan for if she had gone into labor during my class was to call 911.

The family is eagerly awaiting the baby coming,

It makes me think about the 2nd coming of Jesus. Is the 2nd coming of Jesus something we are eagerly awaiting? We do not know when he will return, but we can look forward to Jesus coming again. It is something we need to be prepared for as Romans 13:11 says:

And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

We do not know when Jesus will return, but one thing we do know is that each day brings us one day closer to his return.

Today I am grateful for two things, that Jesus is coming back-hopefully soon, and that my friend from Ukraine did not have the baby during my class. ::)
