Students Give Me An Appreciation for John 3:16

Yesterday evening before my class and during the break time, I walked around the small lobby greeting students in their languages. We have people from so many countries living in my city, which is the reason I have stayed her.

I have a special connection with a group of Ukrainian students. It is a joy to greet them in their language. One of them had some M&Ms and shared some with me. Seeing them smile knowing what they endured is a blessing.

The Hispanic students know I speak Spanish, so they like to greet me in Spanish. When they tell me what country they are from, I smile and say a food word from their country.

As I rode the elevator to the 2nd floor office, a Yazidi woman got on with me. We talked about her job at T J Maxx. She likes working with the cosmetics. I joked that I would never need her help. She joked with me that I could wear make up to which I said- NO. I like it when students feel comfortable with me enough to joke with me.

Teaching at the college in the evenings has always given me a wonderful appreciation for what Jesus said in John 3:16:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus has blessed me with the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. It is always in my mind how much God loves them.

My plan is to continue teaching two evenings a week at the college because of the connections it gives me. I always say as long as I can talk, I can teach. 🙂

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
