So today is June 1st, no big deal, right?

For me June has historically been a great month because I have tried new things and I have had many wonderful adventures in June. I enjoy trying new things. Sometimes they don’t work out so well like about a month ago I read a recipe using butternut squash on a blog I follow, beautybeyondbones, and decided to try it. I bought one and took it home.

I looked at it trying to figure it out but it didn’t say anything to me and it wouldn’t help me. So I posted on facebook about it and friends gave me suggestions with one saying to bake it pulp side up, so I had to ask what is the pulp side.

I tried the Vulcan mind meld on it with an eyebrow raised but then I realized I am not a Vulcan like Mr. Spock, so I could not communicate with the butternut squash. 🙂

I tried to concentrate but still did not understand it. Recipe is a language I don’t understand either. I speak English, Spanish and Portuguese, but not recipe. For me it is like when I try to put together one of those do it yourself kits for a bookcase only when I try, it is lopsided.
You can barely detect the Brazilian flag in the background and some Asian things. Those represent my more successful attempts at trying new things in June. I plan to share about those in coming weeks.
I have found that if I am willing to step out and try new things God brings my way, there are so many blessings that can come like new friends, new experiences, and learning new things. But perhaps I need wisdom to know my limitations and not go out and buy something I don’t know what to do with it.
So I will take this butternut squash to school and give it to a student who knows what to do with it. 🙂
And I eagerly await any new adventure God has in store for me. 🙂
