This morning I shared about how trying a new medication set off a difficult week for me. Living with autoimmune problems means constantly being vigilant about things. For me it is being careful about what I eat for one problem and taking medication for the other two. Last week the new medication’s side effects body slammed me.
In the midst of going through that, I watched worship videos on youtube, watched some testimonies of vloggers on youtube, and did some binge watching on Netflix.
I watched a movie that caught my eye on Netflix. The movie is Brain on Fire. It is based on a true story of a young woman who suffered from an autoimmune disease affected her brain. I don’t want to go too much into the story even though it is based on a true story a book has been written about.

I related so much to the movie. I don’t have the same autoimmune problem the young woman has, but man could I relate to the experience of doctors not being able to figure out what was wrong with me-TWICE. The first time was in the 1990s and the second time was last year.
Going through the experience of being sick, not knowing why, doctors not knowing why, and all the testing and examinations, and finally getting a diagnosis that is correct is a DRAINING process.
Worship videos on youtube and prayer are what really helped me stay connected with Jesus as I went it through last year. Worship music CDS and prayer are what really helped me stay connected with Jesus when I went through it in the 1990s.
I feel I am on the other end of getting over the effects of the medication. I stopped taking it and will see my doctor AGAIN. I am thankful Jesus kept me going and that he spoke to me through the movie Brain On Fire.
