I watched a wonderful video on youtube about a young woman meeting her biological father for the first time. The woman, Kelsy, never knew her biological father. Her biological father did not know about her. Kelsy used one of the DNA testing companies and it helped her to find her biological father. Once they contacted each other via facebook, their bond was already forming. Kelsy shared the video of when she first met her father. She burst into tears into her father’s arms and he hugged her.

Kelsy’s story made me think about the parables Jesus shared in Luke 15 about the prodigal son returning to his father’s house. He left his father and after partying away his money, the son decided to try to return to work as a servant for his father. The father’s response was:

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him”

Jesus shared the parable to teach us about the heart of God the Father. Our Father in heaven longs to run to us and embrace us. He wants to take us into his arms and hug on us.

Of course Kelsy’s story is vastly different than the prodigal son’s. She never knew who her father was and her father did not know about her. Kelsy was loved by her step father and her mother, but still for any child the longing is to know where they come from. So she searched until she found him.

Whatever our story is and however we come to Our Heavenly Father, we can know that he is waiting and longing for us to come to him.

Here is the video of Kelsy meeting her father for the first time. I suggest having a Klennex ready. 🙂
