My classes start again today. I will teach a class this morning and another one this evening. Yesterday I went down to the college to prepare for my classes. It felt good to be in the office again organizing for my first day of classes.

It felt especially good after what I went through in June with a flare up with autoimmune. I laid around a lot with pain for a week, no energy for a month, and no appetite. I am emerging from that and look forward to a new quarter of learning with my students.
Sometimes in life we just have to get up, dust ourselves off, and say to Jesus let’s start again. Proverbs 24 says:
for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again
The context of that passage is about what happens if a thief comes at a righteous person. It is about dealing with hardships in life. We will face hardships in life as we follow Jesus. The only guarantees we have are that he will always be with us and that we have an eternal home waiting for us with him. When troubles come, we may lose our footing for a while. We might end up in bed for most of a week like I did in June.
BUT we get up through the power of Jesus.
So today is me getting up and back in the game thanks to Jesus empowering me. It is time to reconnect with students and meet new ones. It is time to show the love of God by teaching them English and helping them with their new lives in America because my classes are not about me. It is about my students and their needs.
We have an eternal God to draw from when we get back up, so I do not want to waste time.
So today this is my theme song. Thanks for reading. God Bless 🙂
