“Weary brother, broken daughter,
Widowed, widowed lover, you’re not alone
If you’re tired and scared of the madness around you
If you can’t find the strength to carry on”
I love these lines from Nicole Mullen’s song Call On Jesus because we will all face adversity at times and experience moments of feeling broken. We may have different sets of circumstances, but we will all have difficulties at times.
Compounding that these days it can indeed seem like the world is full of madness around us. Jesus himself said that in this world we would have trouble but he didn’t stop with that. He finished with a promise- cheer up for I have overcome the world.
Whatever problems we face, we do not have to face them alone and in fact Jesus would prefer we don’t. He has invited us to come to him. Permission has already been granted for us to enter his presence anytime. He said it in Matthew 11:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
So really the question for us when we are in the valley facing adversity is will we try to face it on our own or call on Jesus the one who has all power and already invited us to call on him.
Thank you for reading. God Bless. 🙂
