Starting something new today of choosing a word each Wednesday to write a post about. If you want to suggest a word for me to use, please let me know in comments. 🙂

Hope

Feels like it is lost in our world. Where did it go? That reason we keep going in the difficult times. That reason we do not lose heart and give up. That reason despair does not overtake us.

So much confusion is around us. So much tension is in our culture. So many people are hurting. Where did it go?

What is it?

It is HOPE.

Hope never left us because hope is not a thing. Hope is not a mere feeling or a flimsy wish like when we say, I hope it is nice tomorrow.

Hope is found in a person. Hope is found in God. Romans 15 says:

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit”

Our hope is eternal because it is anchored in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead as it says in 1 Corinthians 15:

“If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.”

Our hope is not something here today and gone tomorrow. It is secured in God. It is secured in Jesus the Lord of all.

Friends let’s look to the source of all hope, so we do not give in to despair whatever our circumstance is.

Hope is right there beside us because Jesus is right there beside us and he will never leave us.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. Love that our hope is in Jesus 🙂

  2. Great word! We all need hope for the future.
I read a book about choosing a word for each new year. My word for this year is “courage.” In celebration, in January I read the book of Joshua to get immersed in the word. Want to do a Wednesday on “courage”? As a caregiver to my husband with advanced Parkinson’s Disease, I really need “courage.” God’s word is packed with encouragement for me.

    1. Thank you my friend. Yes I will do one with courage next Wednesday
