One blog I follow is by a woman, Rashell, who moved across country to relocate to be close to her mom who is battling a disease. Her mom has Lewy Body disease which there is no cure for. Rashell shares about her experience with her mom in some of her posts.

When I read posts by people like Rashell, I think about how they are the unsung heroes of everyday life. For me unsung heroes are people who face adversity and seek to serve the Lord and show his love in their struggle.

When I go to church on Sunday mornings, I often wonder who are the ones who quietly show the love of Christ going unnoticed by those they worship with. It is all too easy to come into church with everyone looking good with our “Sunday faces” on and not see those who are struggling or walking through adversity.

As I prepare to go to church today, my prayer is for God to connect me with someone who needs encouragement and prayer. This is something I have to admit I used to overlook years ago, but when I started working with refugees, I became much more sensitized to the plight of others. I became aware of and more in tune with the suffering people endure. Suffering takes on many forms. Refugees suffer the loss of everything in their lives. But there are other kinds of suffering like living with an illness, family problems, or like Rashel watching someone you love slowly fade away before your eyes.

It brings to mind what Paul wrote in Galatians 6:

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ”

and

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

We have opportunities around us to carry each other’s burdens in prayer and to do good. All we have to do is ask God to connect us with and make us aware of those around us who need our prayer and encouragement.

Please check out Rashel’s blog and her recent post about her mother and prayer for her and even leave a comment on her blog to let her know you prayed. Her recent post is at rashellbud

Thank you for reading. God Bless 🙂
