For anyone who has experienced any kind of a struggle in life, we can begin to lose hope. Whether the struggle is with depression, anxiety, addiction, family problems, financial problems, the darkness of despair can come over us. Sometimes even the words of Jesus can feel distant when we read the bible or someone shares with us. It can be hard to feel connection. I know. I have been there. I have experienced that feeling like it is all one can do to hold on barely hoping for hope.

The lyrics of this song really spoke to how have I felt in the past living with autoimmune and also facing other trials serving Jesus, so I wanted to share the song and some of its lyrics in hope that some will find encouragement from it. Lyrics like:

“I know it’s all you’ve got to just, be strong
And it’s a fight just to keep it together, together
I know you think, that you are too far gone”

We can feel like we are too far gone when despair takes over. At those times we may need to seek help. It is okay to seek help. The truth is that with Jesus no one is too far gone and no situation is beyond hope even if we feel that way.

I love the chorus to the song:

“Just take, one step, closer
Put one foot in front of the other
You’ll, get through this
Just follow the light in the darkness
You’re gonna be ok ”

Taking a small step can make a big difference. Maybe the small step is to share with a friend. Maybe the small step is to talk with a pastor. Earlier this summer the small step for me was sending an email to one of my pastors and letting a few people I trust know what was going on.

Jesus is the light. His light may feel so far off that it seems dim or impossible to reach out to, but he can reach us. Darkness cannot overpower the light of Jesus. We can take small steps to follow his light out of the darkness, out of the feelings of hopelessness, out of the confusion of our circumstances.

As the song says, just hold on, don’t let go.

Dear reader please remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Jesus’s hand are open to all. His invitation is for all. All means 100%  of us. Everyone is included in, so no one is excluded from his invitation. No matter what we face in life, his arms are open wide to us.

Thank you for reading. God Bless. 🙂
