One of my greatest joys is to spend time with my refugee friends who were oppressed in their home country. I love to spend time with my Mandean friends from Iran/Iraq. They have been oppressed for centuries in their home countries because of their religion. I love to help people who were oppressed in their country as they build their new lives in America.

On Labor Day I visited some of my Mandean friends in their home. It turned out to be ten wonderful hours as we ate delicious food, had good conversation, played cards. and even listened to some singing.

I love Persian food. The seasonings are flavorful and the food is healthy yet delicious. I have found when I visit the home of friends from other countries it is best to not eat too much for breakfast if visiting for lunch because there will be plenty of delicious food.

As much as I enjoyed the food, the best part was getting to know my friends better. I listened as they shared with me what life was like living under oppression. But we also laughed a lot as we shared stories. I just want to adopt them all as my family.

I am so impressed by the young people. They are excellent students seeking futures in the health field. I plan to be meeting with them to help them as they work to their goals.

Meeting with my friends brings to mind Jesus visiting people and dining with them in their homes. The religious leaders criticized Jesus for eating with “sinners” which showed the hypocrisy of the religious leaders.

My Mandean friends experienced rejection in their home country in various ways such as people not eating because of their religion. Well, one thing I know for sure is Jesus would definitely visit my Mandean friends and dine with them.

Another thing I know for sure is that I love my Mandean friends and look forward to visiting them more. I just need to not drink so much coffee next time. I drank four cups of Turkish coffee with the father and ended up not sleeping much that night 🙂

Thank you for reading. God Bless
