Nadia Murad is a Yazidi woman who was forced into sex slavery by ISIS when ISIS came to her village killing members of her family and kidnapped her and forced her into sex slavery. She eventually managed to escape and received treatment in Germany. She has traveled the world to speak about the atrocities committed by ISIS by sharing her story. She has met world leaders in her work to bring to light the horrors Yazidi women have faced at the hands of ISIS.
I met her when she spoke in my city a few years ago. It struck me how brave she is to be willing to tell her story and speak up against ISIS. She is a gentle soul but courageously speaks out.
Nadia was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize along with a doctor from Congo, Dr Mukwege, who has worked to help women who are victims of sexual violence in Congo. He has spoken out against the violence to shed light on it. The BBC has an article about them. You can read it by clicking on this link- BBC.
Sex trafficking of women and children is a terrible plague in many places in the world. Let’s not kid ourselves that it doesn’t happen here in the U.S. because it does. This is an issue Jesus takes seriously.
Jesus had a strong message for anyone who would harm a child saying it would be better for them to have a stone around their neck and tossed into the lake than to go before him on judgement day.
A ministry I support is Love Justice. Love Justice works to intercept women and children being sex trafficked. Love Justice also has group homes for the victims if they cannot go back to their home cities. You can check out their work at lovejustice.org
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
