When Abraham first met God, God gave him the instructions of:
“The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.”
In other words, get going and I will show you where as you are traveling.
Can you imagine being told to go to the airport and you will be told where you will be going as you go to the airport?
God gave Abraham his first action steps to take. Action steps, even small ones, can set us on a new path in life.
1997 was a time in my life that I was still trying to figure out what I was supposed to do after having been through a four year health struggle. I was involved with drama ministry at church and also kids ministry, but those were not my calling in life. I basically had no idea what God was leading to do. I signed up to go to Romania in June that year and helped in an outreach conversational English camp. That led to more trips to Romania. I also began to volunteer in my home city teaching English for refugees and immigrants. It took a few years, but it led to what I do now in ministry and work.
When we are in the midst of a dark and confusing time in our lives, taking small action steps can help. Maybe the step is confiding in a friend. Maybe it is confiding in a pastor. Maybe it is doing something just to get out of ourselves and focus on others.
One thing we can be certain of is that the darkness and confusion is not from God our heavenly father. But he can lead us out of it.
I watched a video by a woman named Kristina Kuzmic. She shares about how taking action steps helped her to start to come out of the dark confusing time in her life. I want to share her video with you.
