Thanksgiving Day is only one week from today here in the U.S. and while I always enjoy turkey and other Thanksgiving foods

for me it is more about who I spend Thanksgiving Day with.
This year I will enjoy Thanksgiving with some Mandean friends from Iran. My favorite Thanksgiving Days have been the ones I spend time with my refugee/immigrant friends. In a way, it is very appropriate for the holiday. The first Thanksgiving Day in America in 1621 the newcomers to America, the Pilgrims who had come from England, and the native born Americans joined together for a feast to celebrate the Pilgrims first harvest. The Pilgrims set aside time to thank God and to celebrate.
I am so thankful that God has led me to work with refugees and immigrants. The biggest blessing for me is the whole new perspective it has given on John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
As I interact with my refugee/immigrant friends, I can feel I small part of the love God has for them.
There have been many other blessings too such as learning phrases in 30 languages, experiencing their cultures, enjoying their food, but the greatest blessing that is part of feeling part of God’s love is the friendships I have with people from several different countries.
Shorter post today to simply THANK GOD for leading to a life of helping, interacting with, teaching, and befriending people from all over the world. It has made my life much richer.
If you read this, please take time to thank God for what he has done in your life.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
