My friend Lily at retrospectivelily.com nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Lily’s shares about her life and faith living with Friedreich’s Ataxia a rare genetic disease that causes her to have problems with mobility among other struggles. I appreciate how her zest for life and her faith in Jesus is clearly seen in her blog posts. She also shares about literature and movies. Please check out her blog using the link highlighted in blue.
- What is your favorite book or movie and why? My favorite book is of course the bible. It has been my lifeline to Jesus along with prayer. My favorite fiction is Lord of the Rings because I appreciate the Christological themes weaved in and out of the story.
- Where is your favorite place you’ve traveled? My favorite places are Romania and Brazil. Romania was the first country I went to for a ministry trip and the people were so special to me my first trips there because they were struggling to overcome the effects of living under communism for over forty years. Brazil, I love Brazil and my Brazilian friends. So fun!!! If I could move to another country, it would be Brazil.
- How would you summarize the focus of your blog? The focus of my blog is my life following Jesus, sharing his love with refugees and immigrants, and living with autoimmune problems.
- When and why did you start a blog? I actually started my blog in October 2009 to write posts about Jesus for international friends who had gone back to their country, but due to foggy brain from Celiacs, my creative side shut down 2010 to 2017. When I became gluten free, foggy brain left and my creative side came back, so in March this year I began writing again with a different focus. I am pleased my blog has gone from 27 to over 230 since then. I am thankful for my followers.
- Do you have a religious faith? If you are a Christian, do you identify with a denomination? I am a Christian. I have been affiliated with different denominations during my life. My home church the past 24 years has been First Free Church Lincoln which is part of the Evangelical Free Church America.
- What is advice almost anyone could benefit from? Jesus has all power, so look to him
- Where do you live, and how is the weather today? I live in Lincoln Nebraska and the weather is more like December today on a November day. Snowy and COLD.
- Do you have a college degree or a certificate, and if so, what was your field of study? Yes, I have a degree with a triple major in Biblical Studies, Psychology, and Organizational Leadership. I also have certification for teaching English Second Language.
- Apple or Windows? I love my iPad mini because it is easier to write in other languages. I speak Portuguese and Spanish and chat with friends in those languages. For that reason- Apple.
- What is a nostalgic cartoon, toy, etc. from your childhood? lol this will date me 🙂 The original Star Trek was my favorite TV show when I was 8, 9, and 10 years old. My favorite toy was my football and also my baseball mitt.
- Who from fiction or reality, past or present, would you most like to have a conversation with and why? From reality I want to meet Jesus in person. I would also love to have a conversation with the Apostle Paul because his ministry and commitment inspire me.
