Ever feel overlooked in life? Ever have the feeling of not being good enough to be chosen?
A few days ago, high school football players in the U.S. signed their letters of intent to play for the university that recruited them and they chose. The process is a long one of the recruits visiting universities that are recruiting them. and the coaches visiting them in their homes. The players are ranked with number of stars with five star considered the best players. The recruiting classes are ranked and there is a lot of publicity and media coverage.

In the business world headhunters are people who look for people to fill positions. They will even contact a person who are not looking for a position just to see if the person is interested.

Both scenarios have something in common. The best performers are highly sought. It is based on what the person has done and can do.
But God looks first at the heart of the person. When he chose King David, David was a shepherd boy. David’s father showed Samuel the prophet his older sons first, but they were not God’s choice. God’s choice was the younger son who had a heart for God and was watching the sheep.

When God chose the two people central to the birth of Jesus, Mary the mother of Jesus and Joseph his earthly step-father, God chose two people who were faithful to him. Mary’s response of saying yes to God’s plan for her to have the baby Jesus shows her character. Joseph was planning to end their engagement quietly, so Mary would not face possible stoning which shows Joseph’s character.
David was overlooked by his own father. Mary was a humble young lady. Joseph was a carpenter. All three are examples of how God chooses people to do his work. He looks at the heart of the person not their outward appearance or their skill set.
God sees all the people, yes all 7.5 billion of us, all of the time because he is God. No one gets lost in the shuffle in God eyes. He never loses track of anyone. He sees our hearts and knows us better than we know ourselves.
With God, no one is overlooked. God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
