One of my favorite artists in the past was Twila Paris. Her songs were especially uplifting for me.

Her song God Is In Control came to my mind this week. This afternoon I will go to the doctor to go over the results of my blood tests. I already know one came back positive that indicates something autoimmune. That along with having physical therapy, this is a time in my life that I am trusting in God for what happens.

Having served God and followed Jesus for over 30 years, I understand peaks and valleys come and go in life. The one constant is God. He never changes and is never surprised. He already knows what the test results are and what the course of action or courses of actions will be.

I have also learned that nothing we go through is wasted. God comforts us so we may in turn comfort others as Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 1:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.”
