One of the first things I noticed during my first trip to Romania was that all of the apartment buildings looked the same to me. They were all concrete buildings with the same color. I had not been there long enough to notice subtle differences or take note of landmarks.

The group I was with had team meetings in the mornings at the missionaries’ apartment. The first morning I went to the meeting with the team member staying at the same host home, we were standing at a bus stop. I looked at him made a suggestion he was not enthusiastic about at all. I said, “Let’s get lost, so we have to learn the city.” He looked at me wondering if I had gone crazy.

In the daytime, it was not too difficult finding my way around. Night time after the classes was a different story. I lived in a building surrounded by other buildings that looked the same. But each time I got on a bus to go back to my host home, there was someone either from the church we were working with or a student from the conversational English classes. I didn’t need GPS which wasn’t even in existence in 1997 anyway. God provided the way for me to find my host home each night through a different person each time that knew the way.

Jesus talked with his disciples, followers, to prepare them for the plan for him to die, be resurrected and then ascend into heaven with the promise he would come back for them and us. He told them they knew the way to where he was going, but Thomas replied they did not know where he was going, so how could they know the way there. In John 14 Jesus answered him:

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

We don’t need to know the route. We only need to know the person. Jesus will take care of everything for us because he is the way.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
