Last week was hot as in summer time hot and humid.Hopefully it was summer’s last hurrah. Last night thunderstorms rolled through and today it will be a high temp of 73 F./22C.

Changes can seem like they happen suddenly. Storms can roll through our lives at times. When the storms of life come, the issue is not whether it has hit. The issue is what we depend on when the storms of life come.

Jesus spoke about it in Luke 6:

“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.  But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

When adversity comes such as a diagnosis from a doctor, loss of a job, financial loss, we can let it overwhelm us or we can look to Jesus who has all power.

I know what it is like to get a life changing diagnosis from a doctor due to living with various chronic illnesses. I also understand financial loss having experienced a loss of $1.200 a month for July, August and September this year. It seems like second verse same as the first when I experience things like that.

But Jesus has called me to share his love with people from diverse countries. Jesus is who keeps me going. I would be lying if I said I have not had doubts and moments that I have felt like giving up. However, Jesus knows how I am wired and knows how to lift me up and get me going again.

Life changes on us, but Jesus never changes. As someone who has been through what seems like one unending trial since I rededicated my life to Jesus in July 1989, I can assure you that Jesus is the solid rock we can trust.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
