Yesterday in church the children sang Away in the Manger for us. It is a traditional thing to do in many churches, cute little kids singing Away in the Manger. Celebrating the birth of Jesus can be a non-threatening thing to do when it comes to a call to respond to who Jesus is. If we only focus on a little baby being born, it can merely be a warm fuzzy kind of moment.

But the reason Jesus left his throne in heaven to be born as a human baby demands a response from us. The reason he came was to grow to be an adult to die on the cross for us, defeat death for us through his resurrection, return to his throne in heaven and one day return to earth as the king of all.

That is why I love Kristene DiMarco’s song O Praise the Name with a finish of O Come Let Us Adore Him. It puts the focus on who Jesus really is and the reason he left his throne to be born as a human baby.

Jesus did and will do all of those things for one reason. Jesus loves us. He loves us even though we are messed up. We have struggles in life, but Jesus loves us.

I hope this song blesses you as much or more than it blessed me.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  6. Yesterday our Youth choir sang, Come let us adore Him. Tears filled the eyes of several of us as we worshipped. To know that He humbly came as a little baby, suffered in the flesh and died on that cruel cross gets to me at times! I can’t help but adore my Savior!
