However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24

This was the verse of the day in Bible Gateway yesterday. It is a theme that has been on my mind a lot recently. At my age, the reality of one day being absent from the body home with the Lord is growing in awareness.

My main task from Jesus is sharing about him with the nations living in my city and in other countries. I do not know how much longer it will be my privilege to do so, I hope to be like a colleague who passed away recently at the age of 80 years old,. She kept teaching up to the last week of her earthly life.

God keeps connecting me with people and those connections could lead to more opportunities to testify to the grace of God in Jesus. Among those are making videos translated into other languages, getting my book Jesus Understands Trauma translated into other languages, and hopefully more divine appointments.

While there are many issues in our society that cause concern, with my time feeling shorter by the day, my attitude is that of Paul in 1st Corinthians 2:2:

For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

There is a hurting world out there with so many wounded souls in need of the healing that only Jesus can bring.

So today will be my Sunday morning group with friends from Brazil, El Salvador, and Venezuela, then worship service and in the afternoon a celebration with friends from Mexico. I would welcome divine appointments today and any day.

What will your day include?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I love your resolve to keep serving Jesus by sharing his love with others, Matt. Nancy and I will attend church this morning, and put new flowers on my mom and dad’s graves. Beyond that, I don’t know what is in store. A little writing, reading, and an afternoon nap, perhaps. Blessings, brother!

    1. Have a blessed Sunday brother. I think naps are essential at the end of a school year

  2. The Lord bless you always and keep you strong physically, mentally, and in all ways as you serve Him in the ministry He gave you. 🙏

How I also pray that I will keep serving the Lord all the days of my life by His grace.

    1. Living for Jesus is the best life 🙂

  3. Your work for HIS Kingdom is an inspiration. Your focus on the task, despite the challenges, is inspiration to all! Sending prayers, my brother! Please stay well, as will I as I linger with my sons and this weekend. God bless you!

    1. Thank you for prayers little sister.
Let your sons do all of the work this weekend while you sit back and enjoy

      1. They truly stepped up to the plate on this, Matt! God gave me the needed strength and I had them all helping. I admit I’ve tried not to overdo it by putting things “back in order” or cleaning or such. But I do it a bit at a time as it all doesn’t have to be done today. It’s not what matters most! I hope YOU are well my friend. Has summer school begun?

      2. Summer school starts next week for my afternoon class. My morning and evening classes begin a four week summer break in a few weeks

  4. Amen! We never know when our time will expire but Jesus gives us a plethora of opportunities to share the gospel message and glorify Him while we’re living!

  5. Blessings Matt for sharing this thoughtful discussion. Staying focused with the arrival of another day might bring challenges, but Jesus is walking alongside.

    1. Walking alongside guiding to opportunities

  6. Yes, we have to make everyday count!

    1. So true- each day until Jesus comes back 🙂
