One thing that I feel committed to is donating from sales of my books to ministries or non-profits that help people who experience trauma. It is an near and dear to me being a trauma survivor of three aspects of trauma which I go into in my books Jesus Understands Trauma and Lifted Out Of The Pit/Called To The Nations.
My plan is to donate one dollar for each book sold to a ministry or non-profit each month. The one I am focusing on this month is Royal Family Kids Camp. Royal Family Kids Camp is a ministry that provides a week of summer camp for children who are victims of abuse. During the camp they are shown the love of Jesus. There is also an ongoing weekly meeting on Saturdays.
This morning at church it was my privilege to give a money order for $100.00 to my friend Julie from church for Royal Family Kids Camp here in my city. Julie has been involved with the ministry since it started here.
Realizing it may take time for the books to take off, instead of the one dollar for each book sold, I decided to donate the royalties. They are not at $100.00 yet, but perhaps will make it there by months end. At my age, it is not as much about getting rich as it is about supporting efforts to share the love of Jesus.
The reason I am sharing about the donation is because in my book Jesus Understands Trauma, I shared that it is my plan and shared my blog name so people can check up on me. It is more of a way to keep accountable than anything else.
