Starting today, my Saturdays will be changing largely due to the fact that my Ukrainian friends have done well at adjusting to their change to a new country. When we began with my weekend groups at the Ukrainian church, I knew that the time would come that they had adjusted and it would be time to start my Saturday group at my church again.
Last fall, my Ukrainian friends were not busy. My weekend groups at their church was a safe place for them as they adjusted to life here. But now they are working and their children are busy with activities like soccer. So my class there will only be on Friday afternoon. It is a feeling of completion for me as I knew going in that this time would come.
My Saturday group met at my church from 2002 until the COVID shutdown. After the shutdown, I started slowly with my Sunday group at first. Today the Saturday group will start again. We will have a few Brazilians, a young man from El Salvador, and a woman from Venezuela.
After the group. I will meet with two students, one from Venezuela and one from Iraq. It will be a TOEFL prep group. TOEFL is an English proficiency test for international students.
The ebb and flow of ministering to the refugees/immigrants in my city is something I enjoy. Jesus has brought people from many countries here and it is a joy to spend time with them and share the love of Jesus with them.
