After watching Sound of Freedom and pondering the question of what role could I possibly have in combatting the evils in our world today, such as trafficking of children and young women, Moses from the bible came to mind. Specifically what God said to Moses when Moses expressed his feelings of inadequacy in Exodus 4:1-2:
Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?”
Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?”
“A staff,” he replied.
God performed many miracles through Moses’s staff. That means God worked through Moses’s staff, a piece of wood, to free Israel from slavery in Egypt.
So I thought about what I have in my hand. In my hand are my laptop and my iPad. I may not be able to be the person who goes to rescue victims, but I can write in my blog about the issue and about organizations that combat trafficking. I can also donate from the royalties of my books to those organizations.
My role is to write, pray and support. So writing about it will continue as will writing books leaving the results in God’s hands. That is what I have in my hand-writing.
If you have not seen it yet, I would encourage you to see Sound of Freedom. It has stayed in third place at the box office even though there has been opposition to it from media sources and the movie industry.
After seeing it, or if you have seen it, you can check out organizations like Love Justice and Operation Underground Railroad and also consider what you have in your hands. God can do wonderful things through what we have in our hands.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
