Yesterday evening was a fun evening of fellowship and food with some of my friends from El Salvador, We ate pupusas, talked, laughed, and it gave me an opportunity to practice my Spanish.

Our hosts were two of my students, The husband was my student a few years ago and the wife is my student now. They have a daughter who is five years old. She will start Kindergarten in a few weeks. She was fun to talk with. It was so fun to see her reactions as I would ask her questions like if she liked ice cream on her pizza. I reminded her that Jesus loves her and that she is precious to Jesus. At one point in the evening, she gently touched my left hand that I was wearing a brace on and asked me if it hurt.

As I interacted with her, the thought kept coming to me of how could anyone harm a child this age and yet there are evil people who do harm children. Today I will be at a conference about sex trafficking hosted by I’ve Got A Name which is an organization that works to free teens and young women from trafficking and also prevent teens and young women from falling victim to traffickers.

I’ve Got A Name is the organization I will be donating to from sales of my books Jesus Understands Trauma and Lifted Out Of The Pit/Called To The Nations for the months of August and September.

The conference is all day so no Saturday nap or hangout at the coffee shop, but it will be so worth it. 🙂

What are you Saturday plans?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. Good morning, Matt. Nancy and I are singing at a local nursing home today for the first time since COVID. Enjoy your conference. I hope they have coffee for you.☕️😃

    1. They had coffee there. Wonderful that you and Nancy could return to the nursing home to bless them with music 🙂

  2. Good morning, brother! What a precious evening for you ( and how sweet of a child). It’s maddening/saddening/horrific to think of the trafficking. Thank you for doing what you’re doing in giving back! God bless you! What a very worthy Saturday. This morning I praise God for my 5 hours of rest (I’ll take consecutive hours). I’m participating in a virtual wellness/health retreat for 3 hours (10-1pm CST—being hosted from PT in CA). I’m looking forward to the art therapy, movement, being with other cancer patients; even if by ZOOM. Afterwards, part of my hiking tribe, that is getting met to the Grand Canyon the end of Sept, are coming to stay with me tonight. I’m so thankful to God for friends like you, Tangie, my WP community (absolutely my family!!) for encouraging me and helping me on my journey through your inspiration! Have a wonderful weekend, brother! Many blessings! 🙏

      1. Thank you, brother! I won’t be hiking it as I had planned years ago. But we are planning maybe short walks? Also, just viewing God’s amazing creations!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
