Saturday evening I was at a picnic a farewell picnic for a Brazilian friend who moved back to Brazil Monday. It as a fun time with friends and meeting new ones. We had hotdogs Brazilian style that they call cachorro quente. They top the hotdogs with things like mashed potatoes, corn etc.

At one point in the evening, one of the women started guessing the zodiac signs of some of the guests and making predictions. I was at a nearby table observing what was happening.. My Brazilian friends were amazed and laughing as she correctly guessed the zodiac sign of four of them and made predictions. It concerned me that my friends would be misled.

So I prayed and asked Jesus to blind/block her concerning me and walked up to the table. She tried to guess about me six times and got it wrong each time. Then I shared that I believe in Jesus not in astrology and that I had prayed for Jesus to block her concerning me. I shared that I need no sign to tell me anything about me because I only need Jesus. That ended what was going on.

There are things like astrology that seem fun and ‘spiritual’ but are deceptive and lead people away from Jesus. However, Jesus has all power and is the only one we should look to. Jesus is our creator, savior, and Lord. I did not want my friends to be misled. So even though it meant being a ‘buzzkill’ to their fun, it was important to do something.

Things can seem like harmless fun but if they led people away from Jesus than they are not harmless. As a Christian, my desire is to be alert and keep focus on Jesus.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I love that you prayed about it first before proceeding. And I appreciate your courage to speak up. If I were in a situation like this, I know I would want to say something. But I am not always good with coming up with the right words on the spot. Thanks for sharing your story. Good job, my brother! 🤍

    1. Thank you little sister. I spoke up because I was concerned for those who have been coming to my Sunday group.

  2. Way to go, brother! You saw the “signs” of what was coming and used the power of Jesus to overcome it! Now that’s what I want to do, too! I’m proud of you!

    1. Thank you little sister. 🙂
      How are you feeling?

      1. Happy Wednesday, brother! You’re welcome. I’m sitting here typing you with a heating pad. My silly back WILL NOT HEAL (it’s the blood counts I’m certain? Cancer in the bones…a multitude of layers). BUT FOR GOD! I knew that it would take a few days to “recover” from my trip. But it’s worth it. I’m using pain as a mighty force! It propels my purpose and perseverance! I have a dear friend coming to visit today…and ZOOM this afternoon with other cancer patients (for this particular cancer) for nearly two hours. I’m so happy to be here another day. I must not waste it! I pray YOU are doing well. I pray for your strength as you worry so diligently for HIS Kingdom! 🙏😃

      2. Thank you for praying little sister. This week has been a flare up but pressing on. Wouldn’t be wonderful for Jesus to return for us soon?

      3. It’s my blessing to pray! Yes! I understand!! Amen!

  3. Amen and amen. Satan desires to confuse and to draw us away from the Lord. It usually the Thanh’s that seem innocuous that tends to draw our footsteps away from the Lord

    1. and Satan appears as an angel of light when he is the deceiver

  4. Knowing the Word of God and having discernment are really important. We as Christians, are called to be priests (prayer) and kings (rulership). The enemy must bow to the name of Jesus who is defeated. Glad you blocked them. Astrology opens things up to the enemy. Praise God they were not able to say anything about you. Trust your friends get discernment and know the Word.

    1. We will talk about it tomorrow in my Sunday group

  5. I totally agree with you. I am glad you did the right thing. Bless you.

    1. Thank you little sister 🙂

  6. I’m with Bridget, I love that you prayed first and then approached this woman. I would’ve wanted to do the same but probably would’ve reserved myself. I’m thankful for your courageous move and leaning into God through it.

    1. Thank you little sister. I felt I needed to do it because I had people who are babies in their faith with me
