It is that time of year again that we have our first cold front of the fall come into our area. We will have rain and snow tomorrow and then snow showers on Sunday. The snow won’t stay. It will melt as soon as it touches the ground because it has been too warm up to now.

But with the change, comes my annual dilemma of remembering where my gloves are. After a futile search, I will inevitably go buy a new pair of gloves only to find the old pair sometime this winter-maybe.
When I gave my students their homework for the weekend last night, I told them it will be colder this weekend, so I wanted them to have something fun to do while they stay inside where it is warm. They all laughed.
This morning I will teach a newcomer refugee class. There will be students from warm climates who have never seen snow before. They will, maybe, see it for the first time this weekend.
The reason I say maybe is because in my city, Lincoln, it is common to not receive any snow while the rest of the state does. Forecasting/predicting, the weather here in my city often makes it look like the weather people on TV do not know that they are doing. 🙂
People have been trying to predict when Jesus will return since the time he ascended to heaven. Jesus talked about signs of his return but they are general signs. He did say something to his disciples when they asked when he would set up his kingdom on earth. In Acts 1:7-8
He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The balance is that we do have signs Jesus gave us so we are ready when he returns, but it is not for us to know when he will return. He wants us to focus on sharing him, his love, his gospel, with those who don’t know him.
Now about those gloves……..
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
