Sunday afternoons I join the new Ukrainian church for their worship service. This past Sunday my translator for when I shared a message was Anastasiia. It was her first time translating for a speaker and she did well. After the service, I sat with her and her husband to get to know them and also to let her know she did great and that I am proud of her.

As we were talking, she shared with me that her father was injured fighting in the war in Ukraine and is in the hospital. We prayed for her father and then she shared with me her prayer that was heart wrenching to hear.

Her prayer has been that her father have an injury that would not kill him but also make it so he did not have to return to the war. I cannot fathom the amount of heartache she feels praying that. She clearly loves her dad, wishes him to be okay and safe, but she worries for his safety in the war. That is the insane position war puts people in.

Hearing that caused me to feel and say Maranantha Lord Jesus, come quickly Lord Jesus. When Jesus returns, it will mean the end of wars, sickness, disasters, and hardship.

I am praying for her father to be safe. She has captured my heart. I told her I want her to translate for me everytime.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. Thank you for sharing so we can join you in prayer…I just purchased a t-shirt from an Etsy store that reads “Maranatha”. I appreciate wearing these shirts for my own encouragement and also to nudge conversations that might allow me to point others to Christ.
