So many wonderful classic Christmas Hymns one can listen to or sing. I prefer Christmas songs that focus on Jesus and the gospel. One Christmas hymn that took on a completely new meaning for me after Jesus led me to the ministry and work he had for me is Joy To The World.

With lyrics of:

Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Let Earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing

It brings to mind what the angel said to the shepherds in Luke 2:10-11

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Sharing the love of Jesus and the message that he is our Savior with people from so many different cultures is the second greatest blessing of my life after or course knowing Jesus as my Savior. That is why each time Joy To The World is sung, it has so much meaning for me.

Is there a Christmas Hymn that speaks to you?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I love that one too. I love a great many carols, but my heart favourite was always was the last verse of In The Bleak Mid-Winter.
    What can I give him?
    Poor as I am
    If I were a shepherd
    I would give a lamb
If I were a wise man
    I would do my part
But what I can I give him
    Give him my heart
    Give him my heart

    1. All we can give him is our heart

    2. I love that one, too, Dawn. In the Christmas program my school had every year when I was growing up, that song was sung as a prayer just before the closing hymn.

      1. Wow! What a great way to end in prayer! Lovely foundation.

  2. I love them all, but Oh Holy Night and Oh Come Let Us Adore Him are probably my two favorites. ♥️🎄💚

    1. O Holy Night is one of my favs too

  3. O Holy Night is at the top for me. “Fall on your knees” is a powerful reminder in the reason for the season.

    1. and the soul felt its worth

    2. That’s my favorite, too, Gary. (The lyrics are even more profound in French – maybe the original language?) In Phoenix where my sister lives, they had a big outdoor production on Christmas Eve with live animals. “O Holy Night” was sung as the wisemen rode their camels down the aisles, and when the choir sang loudly, “Fall on your knees!” the camels did just that! (I get chills just writing about it!)

  4. This beloved hymn fits well with A dvent season and its theme of joy. One of my favorite hymns is “What Child is This.” The lyrics share an inspiring message of wonder, surrounded in a familiar melody (“Greensleeves”).

    1. What Child is this invites us to consider who Jesus is

  5. I’m with Gary…O Holy Night! To hear the angelic choir🎶

    1. I love O Holy Night to- and the soul felt its worth 🙂

  6. Not necessarily a Hymn, but I love the song, ‘Christmas Shoes’.

  7. Good evening, when I think of Christmas songs, I think of my favorite, “Mary Did You Know” ❤

  8. […] one of my friends, fellow bloggers (Jesusluvsall’s Blog), ask the question, “Is there a Christmas Hymn that speaks to you? […]

  9. Something I recently learned about “Joy to the World” that makes it even more exciting to me is that it was originally not a Christmas carol, but a song about the Second Coming. (!)
