A spontaneous focus group for my new upcoming book Encounters with the Ancients took place in my coffee shop yesterday. I was sitting next to two college students who were having a conversation about Jesus. So I asked them if they would read my new short story Teen Being Cyberbullied Meets Mary the Wife of Clopas. After they read it, I shared the concept for the book with them.

They liked the short story and the concept, so I asked if it was a book they would buy. They both quickly responded they would. So that small focus group of two happened at the right time for me. It gave me encouragement to keep doing the boring part of writing which is to go over things for editing. I sat down and edited all of the short stories that will be in the book.

This afternoon will be time to weave them together with the story teller. It looks like another coffee shop hangout is going to happen today after I meet with a few people at my church for English conversation group.

Thankfully I have already been through the process of uploading with Kindle/Amazon, so that part won’t take long. I might even have the book published next week.

So off to my church and then to my coffee shop aka my unofficial office.

What are your Saturday plans?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. This is great news. College students are the fiercest critics of writing. I plan to write a 10-12 page paper for my graduate class, the final assignment if the course. I already entered my grades for students, so I will be free for about two weeks. Then back to the grindstone to prepare for next semester as my college has new syllabus system to learn. Change never ends.

    1. SO true in education change never ends. Sometimes I wish in education we could follow the thinking of if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it lol

  2. I attended and helped lead a men’s prayer breakfast this morning. We sang carols and a retired US Army Chaplain shared a wonderful Christmas message. Tonight, Nancy and I will sing in Handel’s Messiah.

    1. I love Handel’s Messiah. The Trumpet Will Sound and the Hallelujah Chorus get me every time

  3. That’s Great News, Matt!! Having Girl-time with my babygirl, who is headed home from school, for the Holiday🙌🏾🙌🏾

    1. Glad you can have her home for the holiday. Is her mom going to cook all her favorites? 🙂

      1. Nope! I taught them all how to cook! She is gonna cook for me, this time😂

      2. What will she cook for you?

  4. Well, that’s encouraging Matt.
I will be shoveling snow here when the harsh winds die down.

    1. That much snow already? Do you feel blessed or burdened?

      1. Neither I guess. A small burden in shoveling off the deck. Blessed with a face lift look at nature. All the trees are outlined in snow. Quite a sight. I gave firewood to a neighbor while it was snowing and blowing. Fun in the snow times. Why do people not prepare? They do not often prepare for eternity either…our DNA as a human race has been wrecked.

      2. Now is the time for salvation

  5. You just keep moving right along!! (Obviously with God leading)
Very cool! Can’t wait to see your newest book come out!

    1. Thank you little sister. Are you subbing this week?

      1. Yup, Yesterday, Wednesday and Friday..and judging by yesterday’s crazy afternoon with them, those kids are in high-need of Christmas break!!!🥴🤪😅

      2. The energy level of kiddos amps up when they know a break is coming lol
