Yesterday morning I taught a Welcome Class for newcomer refugees. I knew we had scattered thunderstorms in the forecast, so the last 15 minutes of class, I explained the difference between watch and warning as they pertain to severe weather. I also explained what to do if there is a tornado warning.

Yesterday afternoon I was at home and heard the tornado sirens. I looked at the local weather channel and saw the storm was north of the city, nevertheless, the sirens were sounding. A business outside of the city was flattened and a small city to the east of my city had some damage. The worst damage was to a small city about 40 miles from my city.

I think perhaps the whole ordeal got the attention of my newcomer refugee friends.

It makes me think about the warnings Jesus gave us of things to look for before the end times. As I look at the craziness and violence in our world, it certainly feels like his return could happen in our life time.

Update- I had my pre op physical Thursday and the phone call with the surgery center yesterday. I will have my second surgery, same knee, next Thursday. I would appreciate prayers for the surgery, recovery, and also for provision. I received my bills from the first surgery and now have a second one coming. Being a home missionary/teacher, finances are always tight.

Today we will have more storms in the late afternoon, but I think a trip to the coffee shop might be in order. Tomorrow will be my church in the morning and then the Ukrainian church in the afternoon. What will your weekend bring?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

      How are you?

      1. Been super busy getting our last child through high school and off to college all while navigating living with chronic illness. But God is good and helps me every step of the way. How are you?

  2. Lord God, please cover Matt with divine protection. Give the doctor’s wisdom and knowledge to perform this surgery. Please give Bro. Matt a supernatural recovery with minimal pain.

Please, Lord provide for Matt’s every need as he recuperate and let Your peace and comfort be Matt’s best friends as he navigates through this journey.😇

    In Jesus’ Name, Amen

  3. Prayers indeed big brother. God has you wrapped in His loving arms.

    1. in his arms forever we are

  4. Praying your surgery and continued recovery goes well. We may go to dinner with my cousin and her husband for his birthday. He’s a walking miracle, he’s been a dialysis patient for 20 years. 3 times a week he goes for treatment. He’s in his late 60’s now. God is good.

    1. Wow 20 years of dialysis and he is still going

  5. Matt, I’m praying for healing, comfort, and restoration. Financially, too, brother. Timely lessons~I appreciate the parallel to the warnings and to whom
We find shelter, too! Life and the weather are crazy! Thank goodness we serve a Savior who’s our solid rock! Matt, here in SW MO, it’s a good time to be a duck~or a tree! Please take care, brother. I’m headed out for a festival in hopes to see a few actors from my favorite show~Little House on the Prairie. 🙏🏻

    1. Thank you little sister. How are you? How was the festival?

      1. You’re welcome! How are YOU!?!
it was good, Matt. I met “Almanzo Wilder” and “Nellie Olsen” lol. The best? A WWII survivor–the only one left from the room where Germany surrendered. He was in 2nd wave at Omaha Beach. Now THAT’S a hero! And speaking of that–YOU are one, too! I think and pray for you, Gary’s daughter, our sister, Tangie…so many are suffering. Matt, don’t you feel like we’ve been given a special assignment from the Lord? Our suffering is a gift in some ways. Although it’s hard (today’s been a rough day!). YET, my communion with Christ is rock solid. A piece of paper can’t slip between us. It keeps me close to my Savior! Please take care, brother! Thank you for all you’re doing in the midst of your suffering!

      2. If we give our suffering to the Lord and are willing to let him fulfill 2 Corinthians 1;:3-5 through us, wonderful opportunities can happen.
MMeeting a WW 2 hero- WOW

      3. Amen, big brother!

  9. Praying for a great outcome and fast recovery. Question- how do you get readers/subscibers? I have been blogging for almost 7 years and have found not many people even read my bog anymore.I use other avenues like threads to get my info out. Would love suggestions

    1. One suggestion would be to interact with other bloggers like you just did by commenting on my post

  10. Thinking of you Matt as you continue your recovery and rehab. There will be times in our faith journey when the Lord calls us to pause, watch, reflect, and follow Him.
