Elijah the great prophet was dismayed, discouraged and depressed at one point. While he was fleeing from the queen and king, he stopped to sleep under a tree. God sent an angel to wake him up and feed him. Elijah slept some more and the angel came a second time. Then Elijah went on to have his encounter with God.

Yesterday I was trying to start my day but had nowhere to go, no plans for the holiday. I had just had a full day of ministry at both my home church and New Breath the Ukrainian church on Sunday. I started to listen to worship music on Youtube and fell asleep. The worship music kept playing throughout my unplanned four hour nap.

My pastor says sometimes the most spiritual thing to do is take a nap. Jesus took a nap in the boat and a storm came. The storm did not wake him up, but the disciples did out of fear. Jesus woke up and said three little words- Peace be still, and the storm stopped.

In the midst of turmoil, Elijah slept, Jesus slept, and perhaps I slept while the worship music played. I needed it. So today I am back to writing a blog post, responded to comments after a long hiatus of doing so, and hopefully will catch up with fellow bloggers.

So now I have two t-shirts I need to get, the first one will say Language Nerd for Jesus suggested by Gary of garyfultz.com and the other Jesus Took Naps. 🙂

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  2. I was just wondering yesterday, “Where has Matt been?” I’m glad you got that nap in, brother! Even if it was unplanned. Blessings!

    1. Thank you David. When does your school yeear end?

      1. It ended, for me, this past Thursday. I’m off until mid-July.

    1. Most Gary Fultz quotes are accurate–even the fishing ones.

      1. All of Gary’s fishing stories are true. I am sure he would never embellish on the fist he catches or the one that got away 🙂

      2. I try to believe the story myself first before telling them

      3. lol I am sure they are true haha

    2. One of my need to buy things lol

  4. Good to see you back, Matt. I love your tee shirt ideas!

  5. Naps can be so good. When I was young and used to see my mum take a nap, I never understood the need as a young one full of energy. But now, oh boy! I have joined in.

  6. Gotta get that Power Nap‼️

  7. Love my naps – and off to track down that t-shirt! Linda xox

    1. I need to get one too 🙂

  8. Blessings Matt for sharing the positive grace found in a nap. While I’m more of a cat-napping specialist, yesterday I gave in. With extra rest and unplugging from all media, my usual energy returned this Monday morning.

    1. I am glad a nap revived you 🙂

  9. Thats great!! Did you get the t shirts yet?

    1. Not yet hopefully in a month of so lol

      1. You’ll have to write a post with pics to go along with it!!
