A friend of mine from church shared this meme with me Sunday and I liked it so I thought I would share it here.

Family problems can stem from the way parents treat their children and a cycle starts of various kinds of abuse that is passed on from generation to generation.

But that cycle can be broken when we come to know Jesus. A wonderful promise in the bible is Psalm 27:10.

Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.

God receives us and begins a new work in our lives. He can help us break the cycles of abuse whatever kind it may be. Jesus has the power to help us change. Another wonderful promise in the bible is 2nd Corinthians 5:17.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

No matter what kind of past we have or family background we have, when we come to know Jesus, he begins the process of helping us change for the better. Jesus can give us new lives.

One thing I touch on in my book Jesus Understands Trauma is that Jesus dealt with family problems with he was on earth. His own half brothers did not believe in him and tried to cause problems for him. In John 7:1-5 we read:

After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him.  But when the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles was near, Jesus’ brothers said to him, “Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do.  No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”  For even his own brothers did not believe in him.

Jesus understands what it is like to deal with family problems. When we come to him in prayer, he understands.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

      1. Thank you, brother! I’m hanging in there—had to see a dentist (long story) and then today I went in for my treatment. I’m doing good right now! Typically it’s the 2nd-5th days—but I’m being positive! I’m thankful to be here, Matt. I know you understand this too. I’m so thankful you’re here! God bless you! I pray for you, too!
