After finishing teaching my morning Zoom class, I sat down and logged on to Rosetta Stone. I spent 30 minutes reviewing Spanish. That could be expected of me since I speak Spanish.

BUT, maybe I am crazy, I spent twenty minutes trying to learn a little Russian. Why? New Breath, the Ukrainian church I have been helping, sings some songs in Russian and some in Ukrainian. Rosetta Stone does not have Ukrainian, but does have Russian.

After spending some time on Russian, I have realized that I need more, so Friday, payday, I will order a few things from Amazon to learn the Russian alphabet and basic words and also see if it has anything for Ukrainian.

Here I am at my young age, 🙂 , attempting to learn another language on top of the ones I already have floating around in my brain. Have I gone crazy?

I think not. One never knows until one tries. What is my motivation? I want to be able to connect with Russian and Ukrainian speakers for one main reason. I want to be able to share Jesus with them.

If I can learn those languages, then I feel I will truly be able to call myself a Language Nerd for Jesus and get a T-Shirt made that says Language Nerds for Jesus as my friend Gary of garyfultz.com suggested. As of now, I am only Tri-lingual speaking English, Portuguese and Spanish, If I can add one more or two more languages, then I will be a polyglot which is a dream of mine.

Why is that significant for me? Because for me, language represents being able to connect with people. It represents being able to share Jesus with the diverse people in my city.

Please pray for me in my new endeavor.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  3. People that have several languages learned do well with adding others. It is not a matter of age but the fact you have a desire to do it. With the help of God, you will!
