It was interesting for me to read Nancy’s blog post about gratitude Grow That Glow yesterday because as I was catching up with bloggers, I was sitting in my coffee shop. The mood here is a stark contrast to being grateful or having joy.
She did an excellent job developing the reason why some Christians seem to glow, show in their eyes, the joy of the Lord.

As I was blogging in my coffee shop, as I mentioned, the mood was anything but joyful. The coffee shop I come to most often is a very left leaning one. The people who work here would be labeled “woke” by most people. They are rather somber this week probably due to the results of the election.
I feel for them because if one does not know Jesus, where does one put their hope? If one places their hope in fallen human beings and political leaders, one will be disappointed often. If things do not go the way someone in such a circumstance hopes for, then it could feel like hope is lost.
By contrast, Christians who have experienced the presence of Jesus even in the most dire of circumstance, have experienced joy. I think of Corrie Ten Boom who was in a Nazi prison camp and whose father and sister died in the prison camps, was able to say:
“There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still.”
No matter what circumstance we are in, God is greater. His love is deeper than anything circumstance. We have eternity to look forward to.
I hope in coming weeks, perhaps I can share my hope in Jesus with them.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
