A story time I think my friend David of davidsdailydose.org might appreciate because it involves his favorite football team the Oklahoma Sooners.
It was Thanksgiving Day 1971 and Nebraska was playing Oklahoma. The game was on TV. It was #1 Nebraska playing #2 Oklahoma in Oklahoma. It was an exciting game with several lead changes. I was in the basement family room watching the game with my older brother, my father, and my grandfather.

In the second half, fourth quarter to be exact, my mother called us to come up for dinner. We told her it had to wait. Five minutes later, she told us to come up for dinner again. We told her it had to wait. Mind you my brother was 16 and I was 13. Two teen boys saying food had to wait tells you the drama of the game.
In the end, Nebraska won the game with a winning score with a little over a minute left in the game. The two teams finished the year as the #1 and #2 teams in the country. As soon as the game was over, we went upstairs and enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner regaling over the game.

There is a dinner, the greatest promised dinner of all time, that is waiting. It is the feast in heaven when the church, those who believe in Jesus, celebrate with Jesus. It will be the most awesome celebration full of joy and celebration. The invitation is extended to all who will receive Jesus as their Savior.
By the way, I am certain I will not be cooking that dinner. 🙂
I miss the old Nebraska/Oklahoma rivalry. That game decided the eventual National Champion 9 times between 1970 to 2000.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
