Yesterday evening a friend gave me a ride home after watching a game. Christmas songs were playing on the radio in his car. Christmas lights adorned many houses along the way. My comment was, “Christmas music already. I don’t feel ready for Christmas.”

My comment was not about shopping because that is done quickly thanks to Amazon. My comment was not about decorating because I never decorate for any holiday and in fact I have no decorations in my place but I do have books, lots of books.

My comment was more about how it feels like Christmas snuck up on me, it felt like suddenly it was Christmas time. Mentally I don’t feel ready. But it is here nevertheless, all of that Christmas holiday stuff.

Christmas the day we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus. Speaking of Jesus, there is something I feel more than ready to have happen. Jesus will return one day but as Lord of all to reign over the earth.

That is something I am ready for. I am ready to have an end to pain and suffering. I am ready because Jesus died for our sins so we can be forgiven by God. I am ready not because of me, but because I received Jesus as my Savior.

So the real question is not so much feel ready but are we ready for Jesus to return?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I hope you’ll be able to enjoy part of the holidays, despite not feeling ready!

    1. I will when the time comes 🙂

  2. I like how you said, “I’m not ready because of me.” Neither am I, brother.
Nancy and I are on our way to sing Christmas carols at a nursing home. We will share sacred and secular favorites. What’s in store for your Saturday?

    1. A blessing for those at the nursing home that you and Nancy come and share music with them.
Would you believe I am sitting in my coffee shop, blogging, and practicing a bit of Ukrainian?

      1. Your location and what you are doing are no surprise, Matt. Would you believe we have two Ukrainian families at my a school? Both dads were allowed to join the U.S. Army. One of them taught me how to say good morning. It’s pronounced “doebreeronoh”

      2. Great you have those families in your school. Have you tried Borscht yet?

      3. No. I am friendly with them at school, but do not know them personally.

  3. I’m ready for Christmas by December 26th. You can take that both ways I guess.

    1. early starter or late to the game lol

  4. It feels like time has flown, I can’t believe the year has already gone by.

  5. I don’t feel ready too Matt.

    1. I am in good company then 😊

  6. I love Christmas but you’re right. The whole year has gone to fast. Am I ready for Jesus? Yes and No! Sometimes, I feel I need to finish whatever he has set for me to do. But, you never know. It’s His timing, not ours.

    1. The year has flown by for sure

  7. Yes, I am ready for His Kingdom to come, for him to return.

When Christmas comes, I’ll be ready for it, but there’s a way to go yet.

    1. Love the truth that he will return

  8. Blessings Matt. Each Advent season prepares our hearts and minds to again appreciate the birth of faith’s Emmanuel. At the same time, we await the return of our Lord and Savior.

    1. The advent part I embrace. It is all of the other stuff I am not ready for like silly Christmas songs such as Rudolph playing over and over again in public places lol
