This morning I saw a Meme that used Ecclesiastes 9:5 to convey a message. Ecclesiastes 9:5 says.

For the living know that they will die,
    but the dead know nothing;
they have no further reward,
    and even their name is forgotten.

The basic message of the Meme was to not worry what other people think because no one will remember in eternity.

It is not a futile message. It basically was saying don’t worry about the opinions of others or what they say about you.

However, there is great hope, eternal hope in the message of Hebrews 6:10:

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.”

God remembers everything we say or do in serving him and loving him by serving and loving others in his name.

What God does not remember against us is our sins, our mistake, our mess ups. Psalm 103:12 says:

“as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

In eternity, God will remember and reward how we showed his love by sharing his love with others, but he will not hold our sins, mess ups, against us.

So the opinion that really counts is God’s. What he thinks of us is of eternal importance.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
