Not trying to sound melodramatic, but had a brush with severe injury or perhaps death Friday afternoon. As I was crossing a street, I had the walk sign, a delivery truck started its right turn and came about a foot away from hitting me.

A woman from New Breath, the Ukrainian church I help, was walking to her bus stop and saw the whole thing. It startled her. Out of concern, she walked across the street with me when I had the walk signal again. She wanted to make sure I was okay.

So in a matter of a few minutes, I had a real life example of the meaning of when Paul wrote in Philippians 1:21-24:

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!  I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;  but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.

So though the delivery truck guys were laughing at me and driving off, God showed up through a woman who has heard me preach, seen me help at the church to show me he is not done with me yet. Jesus gave me a reminder that he has more for me to do in this life.

So I wil continue to serve Jesus at New Breath, at my home church First Free, and anywhere else he leads me. But I won’t buy any furniture from 7 Day Furniture.

Thank you for reading, God Bless.

    1. Being used by God to share Jesus and his love is the reason for me to be here. Blessings little sister 🙂

  2. Brother, I heard you tell this story and was shocked! Bothered, really. It’s one thing to almost hit someone, but to laugh. I fell at the Denver airport. Very hard! What a human experience. Many people walked past me and one couple seemed upset I was in the way! When a kind lady stopped to check, I started laughing realizing I was ok.
We never know what might happen. The near death experiences leave us feeling~ …grateful to God and his peace and grace! I’m glad you’re ok, Matt! So happy a woman from your church was a witness because that’s what you are for them and us all! Many blessings, brother. 🙏🏻❤️
