The wind is howling outside as a blizzard blows into town. Woke up to a thunderstorm that is now turning into a blizzard. Interesting that one can hear a strong wind, but cannot see the wind. We can see what the wind does as things are blown around, but the wind itself we cannot see.

Jesus used wind to illustrate a spiritual reality about the Holy Spirit. In John 3:8 Jesus said, “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
We do not see the Holy Spirit but we can see what the Holy Spirit does as lives are changed.
John chapter three is best known for John 3:16 when Jesus said, “ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. “
Believing in Jesus, trusting in him as our Savior, is how we are born again. Being born again is what started the whole conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus when Jesus told Nicodemus that people need to be born again to enter into the kingdom of God. Being born again is about a spiritual second birth. It is a work of the Holy Spirit in our lives as the Holy Spirit woos us to Jesus.

The blizzard the wind is bring into my city won’t have lasting effects. Tomorrow it will be warmer and any snow will be gone. The Holy Spirit’s work has lasting effects as lives are changed.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
