It was almost tragic my accident while getting ready yesterday. I started to trim my beard when my hand slipped making it so that I had to trim my beard alll the way down.

Fortunately, my beard will grow back shortly. By this time next week, it will only look like I trimmed it. But for the next week, my face will not look as good.

The incident reminds me of something written in the bible in 2nd Corinthians 5:1-5

“For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.  For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”

Paul is writing about how our bodies will be resurrected and glorified just as Jesus was. The earthly tent he is referring to is our bodies we have now that will perish, but we have the eternal hope in the promise from God that we will be resurrected.

That is what we draw solid eternal hope from that our bodies will be resurrected no more sickness, pain, or injuries. We can live forever with Jesus.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  2. Some men look awful when they lose their facial hair (my Ex was one of them) but on you, it is very becoming.

What a great reminder…Both lighthearted and deeply meaningful. Even a small accident like a beard trim gone wrong can point us back to the bigger picture: that these temporary bodies are not our final home. Thank you for connecting everyday moments to eternal truths. God bless you, today and always…

One day we will have eternal resurrected glorified bodies 🙂
