Classes canceled because of the extreme cold temperature today. So it is a stay home and stay warm kind of day. Perhaps a good day to visit The Shire, Rivendell, Lothlorien, Rohan, and Gondor. Bonus points for you if you can guess where those places are. 🙂

Starting the day by thanking God is such a good way to keep a good attitude. It can even be along the lines of thanking God for a warm place to be on a cold day. One thing I like to thank God for is the opportunity to teach my classes. I feel it is not only a blessing but an honor and privilege to teach my classes. Jesus has blessed me with being able to show his love to people from all over the world.

It is interesting to note that on a frigid cold day while I am thankful for a warm place to be, a friend of mine farther north from me is probably thankful the frigid cold means ice fishing. Another fellow blogger is perhaps thankful to walk the halls of a school and experience life through the eyes of children.

Gratitude is not something superficial for me. Having lived with chronic pain from chronic illness-psoriatic arthritis- for over thirty years, gratitude is not something one would normally think of. But I am grateful for the opportunities Jesus gives me and for the strength he gives me.

What are you grateful for today?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I’m watching the weather from a warm house in Kentucky Matt. Our house in Mn is in -30 for a couple days or more with insane wind chill factors. Ironically many are in a panic here in southern Kentucky as they might get a few inches of snow. Stores are sold out of food and TP. Crazy as the snow will melt in a couple days. Our perspective is molded by our environment, I guess. They also don’t even sell warm winter clothes in stores down here.

    1. Someone I know who lives in West Virginia told the same thing. People are stockpiling bread and milk now.

Here in Alberta, Canada, it’s just another freezing cold day for us. I’m so over winter, not gonna lie. Good luck on getting food and TP! Stay warm!

      1. Living in Alberta I imagine hearing about people going crazy over a bit of snow sounds funny

    2. Brrrr I’m sure you’re thankful to be at a little home away from home currently. Those Minnesota temps sound miserable!!!!

      1. I think Gary likes Minnesota temps because he can go ice fishing 🙂

      2. 🤣I think you’re absolutely right. I’m pretty sure he was born with a fishing pole in his hand!

    3. The beach and now Kentucky you are well traveled these days but the fish are waiting for you back home.

      1. I’m sure you are right Matt. I’m just not risking our daughter traveling in this weather. I do have several people looking after our place and plowing out driveways while gone. We even have a plant lady who keeps our inside plants happy. My fish frying mix is eagerly awaiting our return.

      2. Praying for your daughter. Glad she has been able to travel with you

  2. A good reminder. I’m trying to practice gratitude, but find myself struggling these days. I woke up to snappy cold -21°C weather, icy roads, a freezing house, and a night of insomnia. The forecast says it’s going to be sunny today, so I’m hoping the weatherman is right. Let there be sunshine! ☀️

    1. Sunshine can brighten our moods

  3. Gratitude is something far to many take for granted and do not know how to show it

    1. Gratitude lifts us up out of despair

  4. Ok Mc would be able to guess all of those…lord of the rings right?!😬🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤪

I’m subbing just this afternoon. We have temps at a 5 degree high today. The teachers thought they would at least have a late start or cancel school because of the frigid cold and because there’s so many students and teachers sick but nope… The show must go on .. so here I am subbing for one of the sick teachers.

    1. Lord of the Rings yes. Tell Mc she is a bright girl 🙂
You subbed and your kiddos went to school who took care of your little goats? 🙂

      1. No I guessed it without even asking her!! I get brownie points!!! Mc is a huge lord of the rings fan!
lol those goats are pretty self sufficient!!

      2. You get the brownie points for sure 🙂

  5. I’m grateful for vacations in Middle-earth. 🙂

  6. I am also guessing The-Lord-Of-The-Rings Trilogy.

  7. I am grateful for God’s continued blessings over my life and keeping me within His loving arms each day and night.

    1. Jesus loves you little sister 🙂

      1. Thank you and blessings.

  8. I’m thankful that we only got snow here in Kansas and NO ice. We’ve enjoyed a safe and cozy weekend. I’m sorry for those who have lost power and are having a tough time.

  9. I am grateful for a warm bed, a hot cup of tea, and my writing time. X

  10. Starting each day with praises of gratitude is a welcome gateway into prayer and God’s Word. Schools here are still closed for a third day in a row. While the snow machine has moved on, the Arctic cold is draining the warmest of enthusiasm. Stay safe and warm.

    1. Best to stay inside with coffee Richard 🙂
