Yesterday during worship we sang the song Greater Than Your Love- Nothing is greater than your love. There was a line in the lyrics that grabbed my attention.

“What would the King of all want with this broken heart?
Why would He take the fall knowing us as we are?
Glory beyond the shame, healing beneath the scars
Nothing remains the same, now that we’ve seen Your love”

That line expresses my amazement at how Jesus could love and want relationship with me. Regarding me- broken heart? Yes. Broken heart from having been abused. Broken heart from my own sin. Broken heart from sickness. Check, Check, Check if I put a check in the boxes.

There are two kinds of people in the world; those who have a broken heart and those who have a broken heart but refuse to admit it. We are all broken-hearted in one way or another.

The good news? Psalm 51 says:

“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.”

If we come to God with our broken heart, our broken lives, our broken spirits, he will receive us and the part that is hard to understand, HE LOVES US in our brokeness.

It makes me think of a child who is sick. The loving mother or father of a three year old that is sick and throwing up is concerned about the child not so much the fact that they are holding the child while they throw up.

God is our heavenly father who loves up more deeply than we can imagine.

Victim of abuse? Jesus loves you and his arms are open for you.

Addiction/Alcohol issues? Jesus loves you and his arms are open for you.

Family problems? Jesus loves you and his arms are open for you.

Struggle with depression, anxiety or other mental health issue? Jesus loves you and his arms are open for you.

In Jesus we can have healing beneath the scars of life. We can be released from shame because of his forgiveness.

I want to share the video of the song by Elevation Worship. Thank you for reading. God Bless.
