It happens sometimes that flash of a memory of something I said or did that I regret. The majority of the time there is no way for me to make amends.

Those memories flashes could simply be sparked by seeing someone or something, could be a prompting from God, or could be a condemning voice from the evil one seeking to hold me back in life.
One response I try to follow through on is appropriate for any of the three possible sources of the memory coming to mind. I pray for the person or people involved.

If the source of the reminder is my own conscience or from God, God will be pleased by my response of prayer and the person or people will be blessed.
If the source of the reminder is condemnation by the evil one, my response of prayer brings God into it and the attack stops. That happened yesterday when out of nowhere I remembered saying something unkind to a man I only met once, don’t know his name. and will never see again. The feeling attached to the memory was of being condemned. But Romans 8 says:
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”
So I know the source was not from God. By praying for the man to be blessed and for Jesus to draw the man to himself, I invited God into it and the condemning voice left.
There is no reason not to pray in such situations because God already knows, loves us, and wants us to pray, so the only thing holding us back from praying is ourselves.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
