May is here 🙂
So that means winter is officially in the past, right? Wrong in my state. We had snow in the western part of my state. One city had 7.5 inches of snow.
However, we do have green grass, the leaves are coming back on the trees, and early spring flowers are in bloom-tulips. Signs of the growth of spring are all around us.

Speaking of growth, it has been a wonderful week so far of being able to step back and rejoice in the growth of some students and today I want to highlight the progress of a few of my women students. Being able to empower women from other countries is especially meaningful for me because I am well aware of how much harder it is for women in other countries than it is in the U.S, and yes I know women here face obstacles too.
One young woman from Mexico passed both ESL tests for my morning class and will be considered as having completed our program in a few weeks. She will move on to other courses at the community college in the evening. She has come so far from being the shy young woman who started my class to being the confident young woman she is today.
I asked her this week if she would like to volunteer in my class with a focus on helping the other women when we use the computers. She said yes. Confirmation of it being a good idea came when a few students said they want her to be in class to help them with computers.
Another young woman from Mexico I only began teaching in private lessons a few weeks ago accomplished something. Our first two lessons were preparing for the driver’s license test. She passed it last week and got her license.
Monday evening I saw my assistant from last year. She was a wonderful assistant. I worked with her to prepare her to teach her own class. She has been teaching her own class this school year. We are close to the end of the school year, so there was a celebration for all of the schools that have Family Literacy, .It was great to see her again. The thought that I could help her become an instructor is a blessing.

Investing in people, empowering them, is something Jesus does all of the time. He did so every second of every day when he was on earth and he continues to do so from his throne in heaven.
By investing in others, my reward is twofold, It is a blessing to see them achieve knowing I helped them and by doing so I feel closer to Jesus.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
