Lily’s questions for me are:

Why did you start blogging?

Originally I started blogging to provide bible lessons for friends from other countries I met while they were students here and then moved back to their countries. Since then it has evolved to be about my life, my faith, my refugee and immigrant friends and life with chronic illness.

What is your favorite blog post you’ve written and why?

That is hard to answer. I am always happy when my posts about my refugee and immigrant friends are well received. Recently I did a series on Mental Health issues that was well received.

How long do you edit or agonize over a post before you press “publish”?

It varies Sometimes the post is just kind of there for me and it flows out, so editing is quick. Sometimes I start the post and then step back and let it marinate in my mind for a while.

Writers’ personalities are often different than their writing portrays. How would you describe your personality?

I like fun and telling jokes. I love laughter. But I also tend to be serious about life, my faith, and my refugee/immigrant friends. My refugee friends bring out the kindness in me.

What is your favorite social media platform and why ?

I know for some it is the evil empire, but I have to say facebook because it allows me to stay in contact with friends around the world.

I also love wordpress because I can connect with other bloggers.

What tools do you use to “beef up” your blog?

Pictures and sharing links for other blogs

What is the most valuable thing you’ve learned from blogging?

I have learned so much from my fellow bloggers that it is hard to say.

What advice would you give to a prospective/new blogger?

For me I write for an audience of one- Jesus- in hopes it will bless others.

Be who you are and blog about what you are interested in/passionate about.

Don’t worry about stats. If you focus on stats too much you will get discouraged. Your blog will grow.

Be consistent- if you blog once a week, do it on the same day. If you blog twice a week, do it on the same days etc. Then you help your followers know when to watch for your post.

Interact with other bloggers.
