Change has been on my mind recently largely due to a change happening with my home church. The lead pastor is transitioning to a new part-time status of counseling for the church. My church is hosting a candidate for lead pastor today. What makes this unusual is our lead pastor has been our lead pastor for 40 years. That is extremely rare.
For us change is inevitable. Change can be good, a challenge, unsettling, motivating or a mixture of things.

When our health changes, it can be alarming. I have been through that several times.
When our job changes, it can be a challenge. A good challenge if it is a new job and a challenge we regret if not by our choice.
When family changes, it can be very unsettling for children. The change can be positive such as the birth of a child or it can be adverse such as a divorce.
In the midst of change the only thing I controls are my attitude and how I respond. What a comfort for me to know that the one I trust in and look to never changes. Hebrews 13 says:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Jesus in his character never changes. His role changed when he came to earth to die for us, but his character has never and will never change. He has all power and loves us, so we can look to him in the midst of change.

When change comes, we can look to Jesus knowing he will cause all things to work together for our good as Romans 8 says:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
