My first trip to Constanta Romania in June 1997 was wonderful for me. But perhaps not quite as much for the person matched up with me for host homes. We had 2 people from the team staying at each host home. I loved it because staying with a host home really allows me to experience the culture better.
Each morning we went to the missionaries apartment for a team meeting followed by lunch together there. The first morning we went to the team meeting, I was standing at a bus stop with the guy who was staying at the host home with me.

While we were standing there, I had what I thought was a great idea. I looked at him and said, “Let’s get lost and find our way so we can learn the city.”
He looked at me with a puzzled look that said, “Are you crazy?” At that moment perhaps he wondered if I was possessed. 🙂
The poor fellow had to endure more incidents of my adventuresome streak when it comes to international travel. Eventually. I just went on my own to walk around and learn the city. I love doing so in new places to learn about the place.

That time and the poor fellow serve as reminders for me that we are all wired differently. I have tended to have an adventuresome streak all of my life. It carries over into my ministry and work in my life now. It has been a huge blessing for me to meet and interact with people groups no one knew about before they came to my city as refugees.
But I am not the person who is sought out for input on decorating the church for a holiday, teaching children in Sunday School, or planning a church meal.
We all have different abilities. God gives us abilities to serve and help others. There is no reason to compare ourselves with others when it comes to how we serve. In Ephesians 2 we read:
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
God is the craftsman who creates in us and through us how we will serve and he knows how we are wired. He knows what makes us tick.
The same is true for blogging. We have different styles and different passions/interests. There is no need to compare ourselves to other bloggers. Learn from each other yes. Try ideas other have tried yes. But there is no need to look at other blogs and let that decide if we have a good blog or not. Just a thought for my fellow bloggers.
I wonder if my little sister blogger Deandra of Imago Dei at deandrahurst.com feels adventurous enough to let me cook in her kitchen?
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
Love this. We are all uniquely gifted, and that is by design.
Thank you 🤗 blessings little sister 🤗
Glad you guys managed to have a safe and adventurous time.
You make me think on times when famously paired apostles would split up in their travels. 🙂
God loves you, brother.
Thank you little sister 🙂
🙂
I love your adventurous spirit.
Thank you 🤗
You’re welcome. 😊
I really like this analogy. Thank you.
I just love your story time. You have the gift of writing stories. I hope you are working on that book. I do agree with you that we all have our unique styles so we should work together to complement each other and not to compete with each other.
I agree here 💯 %
Thank you little sister ❤️🤗❤️
Wonderful post! God has given us all different purposes and gifts. Comparing ourselves to others will hold us back from accomplishing those purposes. I think Deandra is only going to let you watch, just my hypothesis. 😂
You know, I was going to say no way initially, but big brother and I can read so I know we should be able to follow the recipe line by line 🤪
🤣😂
😂
I think she should take a risk and let me do it haha 🤣😂🤣
You’re not allowed to use the popcorn setting!
😂🤣😂
Story time!!!
Yyyyyeeeaaaahhh!!
I love how the Lord has gifted you with the ability to weave His truths in your daily life.
As for coming to cook, by all means come on over big brother. We can get a recipe book and try making a meal together 🤗❤️🤗
Ok let’s do it 🤣😂🤣
Deal, when do you want to come on over? ☺️
Anytime. Oh and Dawn can do the dishes for us haha
She see can 🤣

Lol. Please allow him come for the meal time out. 🙈
Cool.💃
Very needful for us never to compare ourselves. We all have a different make up and level of grace. 🙂
Yes no need to compare ourselves only serve in love 🤗
Such a great post! Thanks for the smiles and the chuckle. I live sort of vicariously through others who get to take missions trips because this hasn’t been God’s plan for my life. There was a time, however, when I really yearned to do something more adventurous for God, so your “don’t compare” really hits the nail on the head. I have a different calling. But I sure love to hear about those great adventures! 😀 So thanks for sharing. 😊
Thank you Tina 🤗 God has each of us placed where we are gifted to be 🤗
Great advice 😊
I agree with you, we should learn from others and not ‘compare’. Comparison sucks.
yes it does
no need to compare just learn from and appreciate 🙂
Travelling is so great and it’s always fun to get lost- you end up finding little treasures on the way to your destination!
So true. I love those little treasures 🙂
So good to be ready to go when we are sent
Amen little sister 🙂
Beautiful post 😘
thanks
