Each year we have international students and researchers come to my city in connection with our university. It is always fun for me to meet them. My Brazilian friends are always a lot of fun to hang out with.
One year in August, a young woman came from Brazil. She needed to buy a specific shoe for her feet because of foot problems. I looked it up online and found out a store here carried the shoe she needed. So off we went as a group to the shoe store. When we entered the store, I asked the sales clerk where the shoe was. She showed us. My new friend had picked out her shoe and we were done in 10 minutes.

The young men in the group we happy we could go to coffee right away. The young women including my new friend were not as happy as the young men. They complained the shopping was too quick.

When seeking advice and help, it is important to consider who it is that we are asking advice and help from. My young friend only thought of me as an American friend. She did not stop to think men not enjoying shopping is a cultural universal. 🙂
One of the titles Isaiah 9 has for Jesus is- Wonderful Counselor.
“And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.:
Jesus is omniscient, all knowing, so his help is always perfectly tailored to the person seeking his help. He knows us better than we know ourselves. We can trust him to guide us.
I wonder who could benefit from shopping lessons from me? The nominees are:
Brenda of becominghistapestry.com
Renee of hearttokens.home.blog
Dawn of drawingclosertochrist.com
and Herry of herrychiccounsels.
