One of the reasons I love reading through John in the bible is because he gives us a deeper look into Jesus through the conversations Jesus had with people such as the Samaritan woman at the well, and Nicodemus coming to him at night.

The conversation Jesus had with God the Father before his crucifixion reveals something that was on the heart and mind of Jesus and still is. It deals with what Jesus wants for us. In John 17 we read:

“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world”

Have you ever stopped to think about the fact that Jesus wants us to be with him in heaven?

Jesus want us to see him on his throne and enjoy being with him for all eternity. It is not for his own ego. He knows for us to be with him in heaven and to experience heaven with all of its splendor free of pain, sorrow, and troubles, is the best thing for us.

That is why Psalm 116 says:

“Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his faithful servants”

The pain of death and the circumstances of our deaths are not what is precious to him. What is precious to him is us coming home to him for all of eternity free of the troubles of this world, free from sickness, free from despair.

So what does Jesus want for us? He wants us to be with him for all of eternity. 🙂

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. It will be wonderful to be with Jesus in heaven 🙂

  2. It’s funny that you bring that question up. From the beginning God wanted to be with the crown of His creation yet mankind went against Him. From Genesis 3 with the promise of a Savior, to the geneaolgies that showed His line, to the prophecies that foretold of Him, to His incarnation and fulfillment of everything written about Him (especially concerning His crucifixion and resurrection), the whole Bible points to Christ and what He has done for us to reconcile us with God. Yeah, it’s pretty evident that He died and rose again for all so that we could be with Him in heaven.

That question–“Have you ever stopped to think about the fact that Jesus wants us to be with him in heaven?”–is readily answered in Scripture but people don’t always want to find God’s answers in His Book. I’m glad you drew attention to that. God bless!

    1. Thank you my friend. Blessings

  3. Amen. What a wonder it is to realize the great lengths He went to to provide a way for us to spend eternity with Him! ☺

    1. If we ponder only that each day imagine the difference it can make for us

  4. 💯. I think you hit perfectly on the root of sharing our faith in Jesus, too. Everything He teaches and asks of us is because He loves us and wants us to be with Him. This is a reminder I need often, because I sometimes get caught up in the to-dos and forget the why.

    1. It is too easy to forget the why

  5. Life is different when we realize nothing matters more than eternity with Jesus. All we do here is a preparation for eternity. 😊

    1. This life is but a vapor compared to eternity 🙂

  6. Praise the Lord. That is the reason He died to save us so that we can be like Him and with Him. Great post, Matt.

    1. Thank you little sister 🙂

    1. Amen little sister and we will be there together in the presence of Jesus 🙂

      1. Amen. We will bro. 🤗💃

  8. Yes, I agree, Jesus wishes that we never sinned and were with Him in perfect harmony. But eternity will be here before we know it. 🙂 This is Carly from Message in Stanza. This is my new blog, My Ink Smears. 🙂 I hope you will follow my new blog.
